GIMS is a teaching hospital, It has been rated a first-rate teaching hospital at the level of a medical center by the Department of Health. In addition to its three missions as a medical center (providing medical services, teaching and training, and engaging in research and development), GIMS normally provides the best medical care available, during wartime its main function is to mobilize and integrate medical resources in different areas.
The governor announced upgradation of the Taluka Hospital to the level of an institute of medical sciences. He also announced setting up of agricultural research institute and Cadet College in Khairpur. He announced Rs 1 million financial assistants for the patients' welfare fund.
